Bolzano/Bozen. Steps from the arcaded centre; direct trains reach Verona in 90 minutes and the Brenner line's connections make this the rail gateway to the Dolomites.

Renon/Ritten cable car single €8.00: one way up to Soprabolzano (13 return); combined cable car + Ritten railway 12 one way, 20 return.
Passes: Mobilcard 1 day €15.
Machines, the südtirolmobil app, or tourist offices for the Mobilcard; many hotels issue a free Guest Pass that covers the same network, ask before buying anything.
Tap or stamp per ride; the network is integrated, one system across bus, train and cable car.
If your hotel gives a Guest Pass the answer is done; otherwise the Mobilcard beats singles the moment the Renon cable car is on the day's plan.
On foot
- ·The old town is a compact arcade grid between the station and the Talvera river; the Ötzi museum, the market on Piazza delle Erbe and the Duomo sit minutes apart
- ·The Talvera meadows promenade leads to Castel Roncolo in a flat easy hour; the serious panoramas are one cable-car ride up on the Renon plateau
Taxis and driving
- ·Rank at the station; rarely needed in town, occasionally vital for late Dolomites returns
- ·The centre is ZTL and the valley traffic dense; for the Dolomites proper a car helps, but the cable cars plus the integrated network cover a surprising amount without one
