Terms of Service
Last updated: August 3, 2026
1. Acceptance
These terms are between you and Deep Digital Ventures, which operates Italy on Foot: the website italyonfoot.com (editorial content, our newsletter, and the PDF guide store) and the app at app.italyonfoot.com (“the Service”). By using either site you agree to these terms. The sections about accounts, passes, and credits apply to the app; the “Website and PDF guide store” section below covers italyonfoot.com.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. One account per person.
3. Free access and passes
- Free access: browsing the Italy city catalogue and reading individual city pages is free and needs no account. An account is created when you buy a pass and does not by itself unlock any feature: it exists to hold your pass and your trips. Everything else, including saving cities, comparing them, planning or saving a trip, and the trip-aware Companion, requires a pass.
- Trip Pass: a one-time purchase giving 90 days of access for a single Italy trip. Includes one trip window (one itinerary build) and 200 credits.
- Italy Year: a one-time purchase giving 12 months of access, with 3 trip windows and 600 credits.
- Top-ups: while a pass is active you can buy additional credits. Additional trip windows are available to Italy Year holders.
Current prices are shown on the Upgrade page before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe. Both passes are one-time payments: there is no subscription and nothing auto-renews. Access ends when your pass expires, and the expiry date is shown on your Account page.
A trip window is consumed when you build a full itinerary, when you rebuild one, and when you start an already-in-Italy trip. If a build fails outright the window is returned to you. A credit is spent when the app generates a Concierge chat response for you, and when you regenerate a single day of an itinerary. A Concierge question with a photo attached uses 2 credits. Reading anything already generated never consumes either.
When a pass expires you keep your account and everything saved in it. Trips, itineraries, and any remaining balance are not deleted. Buying a new pass after expiry starts a fresh allowance for the new term rather than adding to the old one, so unused credits from an expired term do not carry over. Buying the same pass again while it is still active extends it and adds the new allowance to your remaining balance.
Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. To request one, or for any payment question, reach us at hello@italyonfoot.com.
4. How our recommendations are produced
Our city guides, points of interest, timing guidance, and route logic begin with our own editorial research on Italy, curated and maintained by our team. When you build an itinerary or ask the Concierge a question, we use current, advanced AI models that work from that research to produce your answer. The trip-aware Companion can also consult sources on the open web, including official websites, so time-sensitive replies reflect what those sources publish now.
We instruct the models to stay within what our research and those sources support, and to tell you when we do not have a confident answer rather than guess. Even so, AI-assisted content can contain mistakes and live details change often. Always confirm anything you plan to rely on, such as opening hours, prices, ticket availability, transport times, and entry or safety requirements, with the official source before you book or travel.
5. Data sources
City data, points of interest, and maps use open data from OpenStreetMap, Wikidata, and other sources under the Open Database License (ODbL). Price data is estimated and may not reflect current market rates. Getting-around facts (transit fares, airport links) are researched from official operator sources and re-verified periodically, but fares change; the official links shown alongside them always carry the current figures.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: abuse the AI endpoints (automated bulk requests), attempt to access other users' data, use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or resell generated content as a competing service.
7. Limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Deep Digital Ventures is not liable for losses arising from reliance on AI-generated travel advice, price estimates, or transit and timing information. Always consult official sources.
8. Website and PDF guide store
The website at italyonfoot.com offers editorial content free of charge and sells downloadable PDF guides. Guide orders are handled by our store platform SureCart, with payment processed by Stripe. Each guide purchase is one-time.
PDF guides are digital content delivered immediately after purchase. Refunds for guides are governed by the PDF Guide Refund Policy, not by the pass refund window described above. By purchasing a guide you agree that delivery begins at once and that, where a statutory right of withdrawal applies to digital content, it ends once the guide is delivered. A guide does not include app access, and an app pass does not include guides.
The sections “How our recommendations are produced”, “Data sources”, “Limitation of liability”, “Changes to terms”, and “Contact” apply to both sites.
9. Changes to terms
We may update these terms. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via the website.
