Arriving
none (ferry to Ischia Porto, Casamicciola or Forio). Ferries and hydrofoils run from Naples (Beverello and Porta di Massa) and Pozzuoli, roughly 50-90 minutes depending on boat and port; hydrofoils cost more, car ferries from Pozzuoli are the budget route. Three arrival ports, so match your boat to your hotel's side of the island.

Ischia is a real island with real bus lines: the CS and CD circle routes loop the whole island in opposite directions, hitting Forio, Sant'Angelo's junction and the beaches. Singles and day passes are cheap; buy at tabaccherie or kiosks before boarding
Tabaccherie and port kiosks; summer buses run full and late, so build slack around thermal-spa closing times.
A day pass earns its keep the moment you cross the island and back, which is most days here.
On foot
- ·Distances are island-scale, not village-scale: Ischia Porto to Forio is a bus ride, not a stroll. Save the walking for the Aragonese Castle causeway and Sant'Angelo's car-free lanes
- ·The Epomeo summit walk from Fontana (about 40 minutes up) is the island's best free viewpoint
Taxis and driving
- ·Taxis and the three-wheeled micro-taxis cluster at the ports; agree fares before boarding, meters are ornamental in season
- ·Visitors can bring or rent cars (unlike Capri), but summer restrictions apply to non-residents' cars in peak weeks and roads jam anyway; the bus loops honestly cover it
