Getting around
Arriving
none (boat or bus from Como / Varenna). No rail: arrive by boat (the arrival Bellagio deserves), or the ASF C30 bus along the cliff road from Como in about 70 minutes. Quickest rail combination: train to Varenna, then the 15 minute ferry across.

The village is a five minute walk end to end (all of it stairs between the waterfront and the upper lanes). Transit means boats: the mid-lake triangle links Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio every half hour or so in season, and the car ferry crosses from Cadenabbia
Boat tickets at the Navigazione Laghi kiosk by the dock; C30 bus tickets at tabaccherie before boarding.
A mid-lake day pass beats singles the moment you visit two villa towns in a day.
On foot
- ·Bellagio is stone stairs in postcard form; flat ground exists only along the waterfront
- ·The walk out to Punta Spartivento, where the lake splits, takes ten minutes and earns the whole trip
Taxis and driving
- ·A handful of local cars work the promontory; for anywhere across the water, the boat is faster and far cheaper
- ·The road in is narrow and parking minimal; day visitors should park in Como or Varenna and float across instead
