none (nearest rail is Santa Margherita Ligure). Trains stop at Santa Margherita Ligure-Portofino; the last 5 km are by ATP bus (the 82 along the corniche), seasonal Tigullio ferry, taxi, or the flat coastal path on foot in about an hour.

The village is one tiny piazzetta and a harbour: there is nothing to ride once you arrive. Ferries link Santa Margherita, Rapallo and (in season) San Fruttuoso and the Cinque Terre
Bus tickets at tabaccherie or the ATP app before boarding; ferry tickets at the quay kiosks.
None needed; the decision is simply bus, boat or the lovely walk.
On foot
- ·The Santa Margherita-Portofino coastal path is the smart arrival: flat, paved and prettier than the road
- ·From the piazzetta, the climb to Castello Brown and the lighthouse point takes 30 minutes and beats sitting at a 9 euro spritz for value
- ·The hike over the headland to San Fruttuoso abbey (about 2 hours) with a ferry return is the area's classic day
Taxis and driving
- ·Expensive and few; the bus and ferry exist, use them
- ·The corniche road is single-lane-and-prayers in season and Portofino's car park charges superyacht rates; park in Santa Margherita and arrive by path, bus or boat
