Trip Planning

Building a trip plan

How the Plan Builder works, set your dates, pace, budget, and interests, then get a day-by-day itinerary drafted for you.

Starting a plan

Add a city (or a few) to a trip from Explore, then open the trip. Once your dates and route are set and you've run Trip check, the itinerary builder unlocks, click 'Build itinerary' to generate it.

Plan preferences

Your trip's dates come from When-to-Go, and the per-city night counts and order from Build my route. When you build the itinerary you can also set, as optional chips: interests (food, culture, history, art, nature, and more), budget tier (backpacker / mid-range / luxury), dining style (street food / local gems / fine dining / mix), and dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, halal, kosher, gluten-free, nut allergy). Anything you leave blank is simply not constrained.

What the Plan Builder generates

The Plan Builder creates a full day-by-day itinerary with timed activities, restaurant recommendations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, neighbourhood tags, hidden gem highlights, Google Maps links for every venue, and a trip summary with practical tips.

Must-see picks

On a city page's Things to Do section, tick the attractions you want to include. Those picks are saved to your trip and passed to the itinerary builder as must-include stops when you build.

Trip windows

Building a full itinerary (and any later whole-trip rebuild) uses one trip window. Starting an 'I'm already in Italy' trip also uses one, at the moment you create it. Trip Pass includes one trip window; Italy Year includes 3, and Italy Year travellers can add more for €19 each from Account. Tweaking a single day from its card, locking, and reordering are free. You'll see a confirmation before a build or rebuild spends a window. Your total trip windows also set how many trips you can keep open at once, archive a trip from your Trips page to make room for a new one.
