Bari Centrale. The old town and the seafront are a flat 15 minute walk up Via Sparano. Centrale also hides two private railways along its flanks: Ferrovie Appulo Lucane for Matera, Ferrovie del Sud Est for the trulli and the Salento.

Between Centrale, the old town, the seafront and the Murat grid everything is a flat walk; city buses mostly matter for the stadium and the outer beaches. Tickets from tabaccherie before boarding

- ·Bari Vecchia is a labyrinth by design: wander it in daylight for the orecchiette ladies on Strada delle Orecchiette and circle the seafront promenade back

- ·The old town is closed to traffic and the centre's ZTL cameras are active; a car in Bari is for leaving Bari, park it at a garage until then
