Lecce. End of the main line south: a 15 minute walk up Viale Quarta puts you at Porta Napoli and the baroque centre. Ferrovie del Sud Est continues from here into the deep Salento (Otranto, Gallipoli) at a rural pace.

- ·Lecce is an evening town: the pietra leccese glows gold at sunset and the passeggiata fills Via Trinchese and the old lanes
