Cagliari. On Piazza Matteotti at the port's edge, sharing the square with the ARST bus terminal for the rest of the island; the Castello quarter rises directly behind.

Single ticket €1.30: 90 minutes on city buses (1.80 if bought on board).
Passes: 24h ticket €3.30.
Tabaccherie, kiosks, machines and the CTM app; on-board costs more, the Sardinian tabaccheria ritual holds.
Stamp on boarding; the buses matter most for Poetto beach (PF/PQ lines in summer).
Castello and the historic quarters are a walk; the 24h ticket earns its keep on a Poetto beach day.
On foot
- ·Cagliari is a climb dressed in limestone: from the port up through Marina's lanes to Castello's bastions is 20 minutes with a payoff terrace, the Bastione di Saint Remy
- ·Sunset from the bastione or the Santa Croce ramparts, then dinner back down in Marina, is the city's daily rhythm
