Palermo Centrale. At the foot of the old town: Via Maqueda and the Quattro Canti are a 15 minute walk straight up the pedestrian spine.
Single ticket €1.40: 90 minutes on buses and the tram (1.80 if bought on board).
Tabaccherie and kiosks before boarding; the on-board surcharge is real, and drivers rarely carry change.
Stamp on board; the free-flowing traffic means buses are slow, so locals walk the centre too.
The historic centre is best on foot; buses matter for Monreale (the 389 from Piazza Indipendenza) and Mondello beach in summer.
