Arriving
La Spezia Centrale (gateway) and the five village stations. Base yourself off the La Spezia Centrale gateway (or Levanto from the north): the Cinque Terre Express shuttles between La Spezia, the five villages and Levanto every 15 to 30 minutes in season.

Passes: Cinque Terre Train Card (1 day) €19.50.
Station machines, the Trenitalia app, or park welcome desks for the Card; validate before boarding like any regional train.
Stamp or activate every ticket before boarding; inspections on this line are constant in season.
The Train Card pays off at two to three hops a day AND includes the paid coastal trail sections; day-trippers doing all five villages should just get it.
On foot
- ·The villages themselves are car-free stacks of lanes and stairs; the famous coastal path between them is partly paid (the Card covers it) and sections close after landslides, check status before promising yourself Vernazza to Monterosso on foot
- ·Every village except Corniglia has its station at sea level; Corniglia greets arrivals with 382 steps or a shuttle
Taxis and driving
- ·There are no taxis inside the villages; boats are the scenic alternative between them in season
- ·Leave the car in La Spezia or Levanto: village access roads are restricted and parking is a rumour. The train does this better in every way
