Arriving
Taormina-Giardini (below the town). The station sits on the coast far below the terrace town: a shuttle bus or taxi covers the winding 3 km climb. From Catania airport, the Interbus/Etna Trasporti coach runs direct in about 75 minutes for around 7 euros.

Taormina itself is one long pedestrian terrace: Corso Umberto end to end is a 15 minute stroll. The cable car drops to Mazzarò beach and Isola Bella in a few minutes when it is running; local shuttles cover the same hop
Coach tickets at the Interbus office or online; cable car and shuttle tickets at the stations.
No pass needed anywhere: you walk the town and buy the beach hop when you want it.
On foot
- ·The town is car-free and flat along the Corso, but everything off it is stairs, including the lovely climbs up to Castelmola and down to the beaches
- ·Isola Bella at golden hour is the walk to plan the day around; go down by cable car, budget sweat for the return or time the shuttle
Taxis and driving
- ·Ranks at Porta Messina and the station; agree the station-to-town fare before setting off, it is a fixed short hop
- ·Traffic is restricted and parking is in two paid multi-storeys (Lumbi and Porta Catania) at the town's ends; in August the road up is slower than the bus
