Arriving
none (nearest rail is Salerno or Sorrento). No trains reach the coast: arrive by SITA bus from Sorrento or Salerno, or better, by ferry from Salerno, which skips the coast-road traffic entirely and is the best first view of the town.

COSTIERASITA 24h pass €10.00: 24 hours of unlimited SITA rides along the whole coast, Sorrento to Salerno.
Tabaccherie, bars and newsstands before boarding; drivers do not sell tickets, and the Amalfi kiosk queues get long by mid-morning.
Stamp on board; inspections are common in season.
If you make more than two hops in a day the pass wins; singles are fine for a single Ravello round trip.
On foot
- ·Amalfi is a staircase with a town attached: the main street is flat, everything off it climbs
- ·Ravello is a spectacular but serious 1.5 hour stair walk above town; the bus does it in 25 minutes for those saving their knees
Taxis and driving
- ·Taxis on the coast charge premium fixed rates between towns; the ferry or bus does the same hop for a tenth of the price
- ·Do not bring a car: the coast road is beautiful, jammed and nearly parking-free, and Amalfi's garage prices are resort-level. Ferries and buses exist precisely for this
